The El Ghriba synagogue in Djerba (Governorate of Medenine) was closed on Wednesday, while the access roads leading to the Erriadh neighbourhood where the place of worship is located were heavily guarded. However, classes at the school and middle school next to the synagogue continued under ordinary conditions, where Jews and Muslims coexist peacefully. Many travel agencies have also kept up their sightseeing programmes in Houmet Souk, where several tourist buses have taken visitors to the city's historical and cultural sites and monuments.
