President Kais Saied paid an unannounced visit to the headquarters of Dar Assabah in Tunis on Friday, Assabah journalist Wajih Wafi told TAP

In crisis since its confiscation in 2011, the daily Assabah is under serious threat of disappearing.

At a press conference at Dar Assabah on Thursday, editor-in-chief Sofien Ben Rejeb said the paper would cease publication next week if the situation persists.

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) and journalists working at Dar Assabah have announced the launch of a series of protests to put pressure on the government and save the newspaper from being «sold off and shut down.»
