President of Republic meets Director-General of Arab Labour Organisation

The meeting between President of the Republic, Kais Saied, and Director General of the Arab Labour Organisation, Fayez Ali Al-Mutairi, on Tuesday at Carthage Palace, focused on the joint Arab work within the framework of this organisation and on the programmes it seeks to achieve. The President of the Republic praised the role of the organisation and recalled the circumstances that led to its creation in comparison with the conditions under which the International Labour Organisation was created in 1919 after the First World War by virtue of one of the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles before being transformed into a specialised agency of the United Nations, according to a press release issued by the Presidency of the Republic. The President of the Republic pointed out that this history alone is sufficient to discover the reasons for the first creation of the organisation, while the objectives of the Arab Labour Organisation at the time of its creation in the mid-sixties of the last century were in the shadow of the Arab nationalist wave to achieve true social justice to which the Arab people aspired. Moreover, the aim was also to offer better employment opportunities to men and women and to provide workers with a rewarding income. The President of the Republic stressed that the youth of the Arab world is an inexhaustible resource and that all that is needed is to provide them with the appropriate legislative frameworks so that they do not have to think about immigration, whether regular or irregular. For his part, the Director General of the Arab Labour Organisation said, in a video published on the official page of the Presidency of the Republic, that he had had an exchange of views with President Kais Saied on issues of interest to the Arab world and Tunisia in particular, as well as on joint Arab action. He also spoke of the way in which the Arab Labour Organisation supports Tunisia and its people, of all categories, through advice, expertise and the development of strategies. "The President of the Republic spoke of a real Arab dimension, its victory for Tunisia and its youth, and how we can work to create opportunities for all segments and categories of society because this is the core of our work as the Arab Labour Organisation through work and production", he said. The Director General of the Arab Labour Organisation said that "the President of the Republic has found a vision for the future of Arab youth", praising the ideas that were discussed at this meeting as part of the discussion of joint Arab action in the Arab world. He also stressed that the organisation would make all its resources available to Tunisia in coordination with the relevant authorities.
