Tunisian judokas in Morocco safe and sound, says federation president

Members of the Tunisian delegation taking part in the African Judo Championships in Casablanca are safe and sound, president of the Tunisian Judo Federation Skander Hachicha told TAP on Saturday. He was speaking following the earthquake that struck the Marrakech-Safi region of Morocco on Friday night and reverberated in several cities across the country. The Ministry of Youth and Sport has reassured the families of the Tunisian judo team members currently in Morocco, stating that all are unharmed and wishing the Moroccan people safety. In a separate statement, the Tunisian National Olympic Committee (CNOT) clarified that the members of the Tunisian delegation had a difficult night following last night's earthquake, as they were forced to evacuate their residence for a few hours following the evacuation of the rooms housing the sports delegations participating in the African Judo Championships, with no damage reported. "The members of the Tunisian team are in good health and the competition will continue," added the CNOT. Tunisia is participating in the African Judo Championship with a delegation of 20 male and female athletes competing in 14 weight categories.
