Tunisian Water Observatory : 104 alerts on water access issues logged in Dec.2023

Some 104 alerts by citizens on water access issues were logged by the Tunisian Water Observatory in December 2023. These alerts are related to the quality of water distributed by the Tunisian Water Distribution Utility (French: SONEDE), unannounced water cuts, water leaks in the national network and protests claiming the right to water. The observatory said its website www.watchwater.tn had received one alert on water quality, 92 on water cuts, 3 more on protests to claim the right to water and 8 on leaks. Seventeen alerts were logged in the governirate of Ben Arous, followed by by Beja (11 alerts). The governorates of Gabès, Tataouine and Gafsa were also heavily affected by water access issues, the observatory added. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
