Candidates in the run-off local elections in the Bou Ladhyeb district of the Agareb delegation (Sfax-2), Riadh Ben Kariem (377 votes, or 25.2% of the vote) and Imed Beji (311 votes, or 20.79% of the vote), have launched their campaigns with commitments that are broadly similar. Candidate Riadh Ben Kraiem, 44, a secondary school teacher, called for improving the quality of health services at the Agareb dispensary and bringing services closer to the people by opening bank branches and social security offices in the region. He also promised to promote school transport, support the agricultural sector by helping small farmers and livestock breeders, keep the region clean and develop the El Gonna nature reserve, "an area with great tourist potential", he stressed. For his part, candidate Imed Beji, 50 years old and employed by a private company, told TAP that his electoral programme included solutions for the creation of a multidisciplinary health centre, the generalisation of public lighting and the protectio n of the region against flooding. The candidate declared his intention to set up a multi-service centre, including an employment office, offices for the CNAM and operator Tunisie Télécom, and promised to work towards financing small agricultural, industrial and service projects.
