President of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), Farouk Bouasker, on Tuesday urged the members of the regional councils of the 2nd district (Tunis, Ariana, Ben Arous, Zaghouan, Manouba and Nabeul) to ensure the proper representation of their regions, guarantee the representation of women and cooperate with local authorities to ensure the success of the local power installation process. During a study day with members of the regional councils on the establishment of the National Council of Regions and Districts, Bouasker called on the members of the regional councils of the governorates in the second district to defend the interests of their regions and to put the country's supreme interest first. He stressed the need to ensure the representation of women "as the constitution stipulates that the state shall work to ensure the participation of women in elected councils." For Bouasker, the success of this process can only be achieved through cooperation between the various councils and the de centralised power represented by the delegates and governors, and he insisted on the need to put regional and national interests before any other personal considerations.
