“All forms of child labor are prohibited regardless of the motives” (OIPEM)

Tunis: The International Organization for the Protection of Mediterranean Children (OIPEM) said that all forms of child labor are prohibited regardless of the motive, given their harmful consequences on the child. It underlined, in a press release published on the occasion of the World Day against Child Labor, the need to raise awareness among parents about the ban on child labor, which constitutes a crime which could be described as human trafficking and vulnerable categories, calling on them to fully assume their responsibility to overcome this phenomenon. According to OIPEM, summer holidays in Tunisia constitute a suitable opportunity to encourage children to participate in the activities of youth centers and scouting, warning parents against child labor during this period whatever the motives are. The organization reiterated that child labor is punishable by the Tunisian legislation. The press release recalled that the World Day Against Child Labor was celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 under the theme "Let's act on our commitments: End Child Labour!"
