African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology: Tunisia elected member representing North Africa

Tunisia was elected member representing North Africa (2024-2026) at the Sixth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology (AMCOMET-6). AMCOMET will bring together Tunisia, Uganda (head of office), Zambia (member representing Southern Africa) and Ghana (member representing the Central African region), the Transport Ministry said in a press release on Thursday evening. Director General of the National Institute of Meteorology (French: INM) Ahmed Hamam represented Tunis at this 6th session held on Thursday. The INM, coming under the Transport Ministry, is Tunisia's permanent representative at the World Meteorological Organisation. The African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology was established in 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya. This high-level mechanism was designed to foster the development of weather and climate services and their applications to meet sector specific societal needs in Africa.
