ARP: Plenary session adopts draft law on financing agreement between Tunisia and local banks

Draft law no. 2023/010 approving the financing agreement concluded on May 16, 2022 between the Republic of Tunisia and a group of local banks to finance the State budget was adopted in its entirety by the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) during a plenary session held on Friday in Bardo.

The bill, adopted with 100 votes in favour, 12 abstentions and 3 votes against, aims to mobilise an estimated 400 million dinars (MD) in foreign currency to finance the State budget. The amount in question will be repaid in 2027 in a single instalment with a 4-year grace period.

According to the text of the bill in question, the mobilisation of this financing is part of the diversification of sources of financing for the State budget by taking advantage of non-resident deposits available at local banks.
