ATFD stages protest at UN office in Tunis on International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People

The Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD) organised a protest on Wednesday in front of the United Nations office in Tunis to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is observed annually on November 29. This demonstration comes in response to the call by feminist coalitions and networks in the Arab region for similar protests in several Arab countries under the banner "Stop the Aggression... End the siege. International organisations with double standards". Women's coalitions and networks in the Arab region issued a statement calling for an immediate end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, ATFD steering committee member Halima Jouini told TAP. She stressed the need to secure humanitarian corridors and aid supplies. Jouini deplored the policy of "double standards" adopted by international organisations in dealing with the Palestinian cause. She stressed the need for UN institutions to assume their responsibilities by providing protection and assistance to the res idents of Gaza and the West Bank. For her part, Assia Belhassan, coordinator of the Palestinian Cause Support Committee within the ATFD, called on the United Nations to intervene to extend the ceasefire in Gaza and put an end to this bloody aggression. She highlighted the horror of Zionist practices against Palestinian women and the escalating violence they have been subjected to since the beginning of the operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by the Palestinian resistance on October 7.
