Bouden chairs working session to examine supply of cereals and by-products

(TAP) - Prime Minister Najla Bouden chaired a working session on Tuesday morning at the Government Palace in Kasbah, devoted to examining the issue of supplying the country with cereals and by-products. The meeting focused on assessing the country's cereal and by-product supply situation and the measures needed to ensure regular supplies and cope with additional demand over the summer. The Prime Minister stressed the need to guarantee the availability of these products in sufficient quantities and to increase the pace of distribution in order to remedy the disruptions experienced after Eïd al-Adha. During the meeting, the members of the government also discussed issues relating to stepping up the monitoring and control of cereal processing operations and the distribution of cereal by-products, in order to combat attempts to monopolise and divert subsidised products, stressing the importance of strengthening coordination between ministries in this respect. At the end of the meeting, they stressed the need to meet ordinary and additional requirements for cereals and cereal derivatives, to direct additional quantities to regions with shortages, to order the launch of a survey of overall requirements based on consumption and production data for each region, and to ensure daily monitoring of production, processing and distribution operations in coordination between the various supervisory authorities.
