Fill rate of dams reaches 26.6% on July 26 (ONAGRI)

Tunis: The fill rate of Tunisia's dams reached 26.6% on July 26 to 625.464 million m3, reads the "Water Situation of Dams" report published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (French: ONAGRI). Water reserves in these dams fell by 20.70%, or 163.319 million m3, compared with the same date last year, and by 25.9% (-219.076 m3) compared with the average for the last 3 years (844.540 million m3). The breakdown of these reserves between the 10 main dams shows that northern dams account for the largest quantities of reserves, notably Sidi Salem 25% (142.233 million m3), Sidi El Barrak 40% (113.598 million m3) and Bouhertma 38% (55.538 million m3). In the midland, the Sidi Saad dam's fill rate stood at 17% (22.304 million m3), Bir Mcherga 19% (7.719 million m3), Nebhana 3% (2.131 million m3). Total inflows from dams during this season amounted to 650.469 million m3, compared with an average of 1,775.165 million m3, i.e. down by 1,124.696 million m3. ONAGRI data showed 1.806 million m3 of water (1.742 mi llion m3 northern dams, 0.004 million m3 midland dams and 0.060 million m3 Cap Bon dams) were withdrawn and used on July 26. Total water supplies from Lake Ichkeul during the current season amounted to 1.771 million m3, compared with a total of 0.373 million m3 during the same period last season.
