Foreign Minister discusses with consuls and heads of consular offices conditions of Tunisian community

Tunis: The activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, as well as the conditions of residence of the Tunisian community, were the main topics of a videoconference held on Wednesday by Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar with consuls general, consuls and heads of consular offices. The meeting also examined the best ways of improving performance, the quality of services provided to members of the Tunisian community abroad and defending their interests, according to a statement from the ministry. Nabil Ammar stressed the ongoing efforts to improve the level of administrative and consular services, digitalisation, avoiding difficulties and developing new methods that take into account the specificity of the country of accreditation and the map of the community, by strengthening coordination and cooperation with various central services and other Tunisian institutions concerned. He urged the heads of consular offices to respond quickly and to publicise their activities and initiative s at all levels, to play their role in economic and cultural diplomacy and to work, in coordination with the ambassadors, to strengthen Tunisia's relations with friendly countries, particularly at local and regional level. The Minister also called for greater communication with members of the community, making them aware of the great efforts being made to improve the services provided to them and urging them to organise themselves in order to consolidate proposals that would have a positive impact on the conditions of their stay, involve them in the decision-making process in Tunisia and contribute to the country's development efforts. With regard to Tunisian talents abroad, who formed an important part of the meeting, the Foreign Minister stressed the need to deepen relations with them, listen to their ideas and benefit from their expertise and contacts. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State and officials from the Ministry. Similar meetings have been held in recent days with ambassadors and heads of Tunisian missions abroad.
