Tunisia and Japan signed on Monday in Tunis documents for a Japanese donation of 67 million dinars to finance a pilot wastewater treatment plant in Gabès. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar said this wastewater treatment plant will help provide large quantities of treated water and reduce pollution in a region that has long suffered from this problem, according to a Ministry statement. This project 'reflects the excellence of the bilateral relations between Tunisia and Japan,' Nabil Ammar added, underlining the desire to further strengthen cooperation with Japan in all fields, particularly in priority development projects. For his part, the Japanese Ambassador in Tunis welcomed the development of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed his country's commitment to continue supporting Tunisia's development efforts. The Minister and the Japanese Ambassador signed the exchange of documents on this donation in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Leila Chikhaoui, the same source added. The technical document relating to this donation was also signed by the Minister of Environment and the Resident President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
