Kairouan: 9 including 8 sub-Saharan Africans die in road accident

Nine people, incl. 8 sub-Saharan nationals died in a road accident that occurred last Sunday night (9pm), on the road linking the delegations of Menzel Mhiri and Nasrallah to the city of Kairouan.

The regional director of the Civil Defence, Colonel Hamdi Loussif, told TAP the accident occurred when a light truck carrying 14 people, 12 of them sub-Saharan, overturned in addition to the driver and co-driver.

According to the same source, 9 people were killed and 5 injured. Two seriously injured people, including the Tunisian passenger, were taken to Kairouan hospital, while three others were taken to the local hospital in Nasrallah.

According to initial information, the driver did not pay attention to the work being carried out on the road between Menzel Mhiri and Nasrallah, which caused the truck to skid.

Seven ambulances were mobilised to transport the bodies and the injured, the same source said.
