Kebili-Elections: Candidates promise to defend farmers’ interests

Local election candidates Jabballah Ben Salah in Jarsine (south Kebili delegation) Soltane Ben Soltane in north Kebili and Kais El Baoueb in El Mansoura (north Kebili delegation) started campaigning in the governorate of Kebili. Candidate Jabballah Ben Salah called for the construction of a hospital in Jarsine, the regularisation of the land situation of farms and the launch of a compensation fund for agricultural disasters, in addition to the rescheduling of the debts of the water group to ensure irrigation needs. He also called for granting loans to small farmers and unemployed young people to set up their own projects, and for connecting the region to the drinking water and electricity networks. Candidate Soltane Ben Soltane promised to work towards setting up a health centre in north Kebili, to defend the interests of farmers and water groups and to set up a pilot kindergarten and craft village. His pledged to upgrade infrastructure, encourage investors and young entrepreneurs, provide support for hi gher education graduates to help them enter the workforce and promote a social economy based on solidarity. For his part, candidate Kais El Baoueb undertook to improve the quality of life in the localities of Jedida and El Mansoura, to develop the marketing of craft products and greenhouse cultivation, to solve the problem of the lack of irrigation water and to step up aid and assistance to needy families in the region. Two candidates in Jarsine are running for a seat on the local council of south Kebili and three others are running for a seat on the local council of north Kebili.
