The electoral campaign carried out by candidates for the second round of local elections scheduled for February 4, is still underway in various governorates and regions across Tunisia. In the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, candidates spoke of promoting healthcare services, improving the education system, building a leisure center for local families and creating a new post office in the region They also promised to ensure a regular supply of fodder for farmers and manage water resources effectively. In the governorate of Medenine, candidates in the second round of the local council elections promised to complete pending projects, providing sources of income for needy families, improve the situation of rural women and increase public lighting in the area. In the governorate of Nabeul, candidates vying for the second round of the local elections pledged to improve the education sector in the region by conducting maintenance work within schools, promote healthcare services by bringing a larger number of special ist doctors in rural areas, improve public transport services as well as create a modern wastewater treatment plant. In the governorate of Kasserine, candidates promised to sort out the land situation of collective lands, connect schools with drinking water, provide more administrative services to citizens and financial support to needy families as well as maintain rural roads. In the governorate of Jendouba, candidates pledged to promote agricultural products in the region and improve social, cultural and health services. As for candidates running for the local elections in the various districts of the governorate of Siliana, they stressed the need to provide financial assistance to low-income families, modernize the agricultural sector, increase the number of sports clubs in the area, end water cuts as well as develop ecological tourism in their localities. Candidates representing Kef governorate focused on reactivating agricultural extension structures, fighting against erosion, resolving problems of i rrigated areas and exploiting forests so as to create new lucrative activities for the locals. In Mahdia, candidates promised to promote the agricultural sector in an effort to decrease unemployment rates, encourage farmers to make use of groundwater and deep water tables and promote women's economic empowerment.
