Local elections – Beja: Candidates for Imadas of Bir Touta and Faden Souk present their electoral programmes

Candidates in the local elections for the Imadas of Bir Touta and Faden Souk (Teboursouk delegation in the Beja governorate) promised on Sunday to work to resolve the issue of state land and improve the region's infrastructure. Obeid Al-Marai, a 33-year-old graduate of the Imada of Bir Touta, told TAP he would work to connect a number of isolated regions to the drinking water network, particularly the regions of Rezakiya, Barika and Baten and to find jobs and income sources for needy families. For his part, the candidate for Bir Touta, Hafedh Marai (a 32-year-old labourer), said he would work to improve basic infrastructure, provide some regions with drinking water, supply farmers with subsidised fodder and build a football pitch. The candidate for the Bir Touta constituency, Khalil Marai (a 31-year-old labourer), said he would provide transport for female agricultural workers, schoolchildren and students. The candidate for the imada of Faden Souk, Salah Hammami (unemployed, 41 years old), promised to la unch a programme to improve housing, work to create new jobs, ensure the best of the region's natural resources, install a public lighting network… For his part, the second candidate for Faden Souk, Jalal Makni (44), who has a degree in engineering, has promised to use state land in the area to create jobs for young people and to improve roads to make it easier for people to move around. The candidate for Faden Souk, Mahrez Hamila (a 30-year-old labourer with a secondary education), promised to develop the region, connect several areas to the drinking water network and set up a citizens' company to manage state-owned lands to create jobs for the unemployed.
