Local elections: Over 864,000 operations to update electoral register (ISIE spokesman)Elect visionary candidates to spur development – Regional Minister

Over 864,000 operations to update the electoral register had been recorded by the end of the deadline set by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) on December 8 at midnight, said ISIE spokesman Mohamed Tlili Mnasri. Contacted on Saturday by TAP, Mnasri added that 2 million 661 thousand and 62 voters had checked their details on the electoral register using the SMS service. The checking of the voting centre in which the voter is registered will continue until the polling day on December 24, he added. Mnasri also pointed out that the election campaign is continuing in all the constitencies, without any serious electoral offences being recorded. Some offences have been reported, such as the use of the national flag and election posters, he said. The exceptional deadline for updating the electoral register was extended from November 13, 2023 to December 8, 2023. 'Elect preferred choices during the December 19 district level polls so that your communities will witness unprecedented growth and development to meet the aspirations of the youth and the larger community as a whole,' he said. Mr Darko-Mensah said he was not happy about the low turnout of the District Level Elections over the years and called for massive participation to ensure the success of the process. He said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of the enstoolment of Nana Opetse II, the Queenmother of Supomu-Dunkwa in the Shama District of the Western Region. 'I will also impress on all well-meaning Ghanaians to fully participate in the process and on time…mind you this is where real community development should start from and no one must downplay this critical process,' he added.
