Local elections: Run-off campaign likely to start January 22 (ISIE)

The Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), on Saturday, held a series of meetings with candidates in the local election runoff in various regions of the country, namely Gabes, Gafsa, Ben Arous Siliana, Manouba, Beja and Monastir, to take stock of the shortcomings noted in the first round and to prepare for the rest of the electoral race. Aymen Boughattas, a member of the ISIE, told TAP, on the sidelines of the meeting that if the Administrative Court notifies the ISIE of the final rulings on the candidates' challenges on January 19, the electoral campaign will begin on January 22 and continue until February 2, with February 3 as the day of electoral silence, i.e. one day before the polling date, which is set for February 4, 2024. In the local election run-off, 1,560 candidates from 780 electoral districts will compete for seats on the next local councils in a vote supervised by more than 15,000 electoral officials.
