Solutions to revive the sugar beet system and foster local sugar production were at the heart of a ministerial working session held on Monday in Kasbah, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani. Emphasis was placed on the need to secure the country's needs of this commodity, particularly given the profound shifts in the global value chain in this area, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry. Two additional produts are extracted from sugar beet. They are molasses which are used as a raw and basic material in the production of baker's yeast and industrial alcohol and sugar beet pomace, used as feed to promote milk production in cows as well as in an agricultural land development.
