Ministry of Communication Technologies calls on Tunisians living abroad to participate in pilot experiment on use of digital ID

The Ministry of Communication Technologies called on Tunisians living abroad to participate in the pilot experiment on the launch of the E-Houwiya (ID) application before including it on mobile app stores. A link to this service will be emailed to participants to try this app and then submit their suggestions and comments about this new service so as to contribute to the development of national digital projects. The Ministry stated that the digital ID application on mobile phones is meant to ease access for citizens residing abroad to electronic administrative services, consular services, citizen portal, social services… This digital ID will be linked to mobile phones. Its use will help Tunisian citizens living abroad to enhance communication with the Tunisian administration in a better, timely and secure manner. The use of the mobile digital ID, which was announced in August 2022, provides a unified access method to electronic government portals and online services. It allows service providers to identi fy citizens and verify their identity easily. The digital identity is also protected and secure and enables reliable transactions by electronically signing documents using each individual's electronic authentication certificate. The number of activated identities reached 55,740, while the number of non-activated identities is 1,688 requests, according to data published on the portal of the Ministry of Technologies.
