Local, regional and district councils, as well as the National Council of Districts and Regions are expected to be set up early in April, said Spokesperson for the Independent High Authority for Elections (French: ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mnasri. ISIE will start casting lots for members of the regional councils within eight days of the announcement of the final results of the local elections, Mnasri told TAP in an interview. "Regional councils are due to convene eight days after the announcement of the final results when ISIE is due to draw lots to select members of the local councils who will represent their Imadas on the regional councils for their first term of office," the same source said. Article 34 of Decree law No.2023-10 of MArch 8, 2023 on the election of local councils and the line-up of the regional councils and distrcits stipulates that members of the districts councils and the National Council of Regions and Distrcits are indirectly elected by members of reginal councils.
