Need to implement national strategy on addiction prevention, risk reduction and treatment of disorders resulting from illicit use of psychoactive substances

Health Minister Ali Mrabet underlined the need to implement the various components of the national strategy on addiction prevention, risk reduction and treatment of disorders resulting from the illicit use of psychoactive substances in prisons and society for the period 2023-2025. Speaking on Monday in Tunis at the opening of a workshop on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, to approve the financial and operational plan for this strategy, he pointed out the need to achieve all its objectives in terms of prevention and treatment in order to protect society as a whole from the serious repercussions of addiction and the use of psychoactive substances, in coordination with all partners at national and international level. Mrabet commended on the occasion, the efforts exerted by the national anti-narcotics office within the Pharmacy and Medicines Unit of the Health Ministry, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Tunisia and the Office of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in Tunisia, in devising this operational strategy. The workshop brought together representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Tunisia, the Office of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in Tunisia, the United Nations Migration Agency, foreign countries, international organisations, members of the steering committee, ministries, stakeholder structures and civil society.
