New members of National Criminal Reconciliation Committee sworn in before President Saied [Upd 1]

The new members of the National Criminal Reconciliation Committee were sworn before President Kais Saied during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Carthage Palace. The new members of the National Criminal Reconciliation Committee were appointed in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 139-2024 dated March 8, 2024, published in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT) on Tuesday. They are appointed for a period of six months. The members are as follows: - Mechket Slama (judicial judge), president - Mohamed Kallel (administrative judge), first vice-president - Souheil Cheour (financial judge), second vice-president - Mahmoud Chouaieb (representative of the High Committee for Administrative and Financial Control), member - Lotfi Harzali (representative of the High Committee for Administrative and Financial Control), member - Selma Gaaloul (representative of the Ministry of State Property and Land Affairs), member - Sahar Zaghdoudi (representative of the Financial Analysis Committee at the Central Bank of Tunisia), member - Mohamed Ali Grar (representative of the State Litigation Officer), member According to the same decree, Mohamed Oueslati is appointed rapporteur of the Committee. President Kais Saied, on February 26, met with the Prime Minister, in the presence of the Ministers of Justice and Finance, and stressed the need to expedite the establishment of the National Criminal Reconciliation Committee "in order to recover the funds plundered from Tunisians both domestically and abroad." During the meeting, he called on the future members of the committee to "fulfill their duties to the best of their ability" and to "carefully and rigorously examine the files presented to them before they are submitted to the National Security Council. The Council will decide whether to approve the reconciliation amount, revise it upwards, or reject it altogether, in accordance with the provisions of the law amending the decree-law establishing the Committee."
