A business delegation made up of more than 30 companies is taking part in the sixth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) which is being held from November 5 to 10, in Shanghai, China. Led by CONECT International for the second consecutive time, this business trip is organized in cooperation with the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing, the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) and the Office National Tunisian Tourism (ONTT). A 136 square meter pavilion is reserved for Tunisian companies operating in several fields, including food products, tourism products, cosmetics and health products, CONECT said. The exhibition is considered one of the most major business events. It showcases the economic opportunities that developing countries like Tunisia benefit from so that they can market their products directly to the largest Chinese suppliers who are, in turn, looking to boost their foreign trade and consolidate investment relationships . The 6th edition is expected to welcome guests from 154 countries, regions and international organizations and record more than 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 visitors. The volume of trade between Tunisia and China, during the first four months of 2023, reached around $763 million, an annual increase of 12.5%. The number of Chinese visitors to Tunisia increased 4.5 times, from 7,000 Chinese tourists in 2017, to 32,000 Chinese tourists in 2019. In order to increase the number of Chinese tourists, Tunisia recently exempted Chinese visa tourists.
