Over 91 % of accountancy professionals say Finance Law not conducive to business development (survey)

Over 91% of accountancy professionals believe the Finance Law 2024 is not conducive to business development, a survery on taxation and the business climate (20172024) showed. The survey was conducted in January by a chartered accountant, Anis Wahabi, and published Wednesday during a debate meeting on the topic: " Decrypting the Finance Law. 68.3% of chartered accounts think that the business climate in Tunisia has not improved since 2017. The tax legislation is unfavourable to business growth.for 53% of respondens . Wahabi also said 43.3% of accounting professionals believe tax measures taken since 2017 had taken their toll on the business climate in the country. These measures mainly include the abolition of the VAT supension system for international business bompanies and service exporting companies, the increase od penaties for late payment, export taxation and rate instabilites. The chartered accountant called for restoring the climate of confidence and gurantee increased legal security and stability in tax legislation. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
