Tunisia's primary energy balance deficit shrank by 6% during the first four months of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, reads the report on energy situation published Thursday by the National Observatory of Energy and Mining.
This drop is mainly due to the decrease reported in the primary energy demand and hydrocarbon production.
Taking into account the royalty, the primary energy balance posted a 1.4Mtoe deficit by the end of April 2023, down by 7% compared to April 2022, the same source added.
The energy independence rate, which represents the ratio of primary energy resources to primary energy consumption, stood at 51% by the end of April 2023.
Whereas without counting the royalty, the energy independence rate would be limited to 40% by the end of April 2023, compared to 41% by end of April 2022.
