Prime Minister meets AfCFTA Secretary General in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani met on Saturday with Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Wamkele Mene, on the sidelines of his participation in the 37th session of the African Union Summit. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the outcomes of the World Economic Forum in Davos, in addition to the implementation of the AfCFTA, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister on Sunday. Hachani stressed the importance that Tunisia attaches to this area in order to develop intra-African trade and meet the expectations of the African people in terms of development and economic growth. For his part, the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA spoke of Tunisia's pioneering role in the region and its support for this strategic choice for the continent to achieve greater integration and complementarity. He also expressed his desire to further promote cooperation with Tunisia, one of the first countries to sign the agreement establishing the AfCFTA, according to the same source. At the request of the President of the Republic, Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani is leading a Tunisian delegation to the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of the Heads of State and Government held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa from February 16 to 18.
