Tunisia urged the international community to seek to compel the occupation forces to bring a halt to their barbaric assault on Gaza, end 75 years of occupation and lift the blockade on Gaza and all Palestinian territories. There is also need to prosecute the occupying forces for their heinous crimes against the Palestinian people, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar said in a video-recorded speech at the High Level Segment of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (February 26- April 5). The global community is urged to push the occupying forces to comply with the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The ICJ ordered the occupying forces to take measures to prevent genocide in Gaza in South Africa's case. The FM laid emphasis on the need for a real and sincere commitment on the part of the international community to comply with the UN charter. "This 55th session is held in an unprecedented international context of barbaric human rig hts breaches in Gaza and the occupied territories before the eyes of an international community crippled by a minority of countries," the FM further said. It is paradoxical to see the global community mark last December 10 the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at a time when Human rights are abused across the globe with an unspeakable cruelty. Nearly 30,000 Palestinians were killed and 68,000 sustained injuries in Gaza assault, mostly women and children.
