Tunisian delegation participating in ‘COP 28″ discusses implications of outcome of climate summit on national economy

A coordination meeting that included members of the Tunisian delegation participating in the "COP28" Climate Summit in Dubai on Thursday discussed the implications of the results of the climate summit negotiations on the national economy, especially Tunisian exports and the necessary readiness to face obstacles to market access. Members of the Tunisian delegation also discussed the course of negotiations for the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change, with the new and quantitative goal of climate finance and a fair transition regarding cross-border carbon adjustment mechanisms, as well as unilateral measures in the field of trade exchanges. The meeting was attended by President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Samir Majoul, the National Coordinator of the Climate change Unit, Mohamed Zemerli, and the directors general of the ministries of agriculture, finance, local affairs, higher education, according to a statement issued by the UTICA. Tunisia, one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change, is participating in the the 28th Session of the conference of the parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), which kicked off on Thursday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Tunisia, a signatory to the Paris Agreement and various conventions and protocols aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change, attending this conference with a delegation that includes representatives of several ministries and components of civil society. Tunisian start-ups are attending a demonstration on December 2, 2023, on the sidelines of the conference and will present their technological and innovative solutions to the problems associated with climate change.
