Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), Anouar Ben Kaddour, Thursday, said that "the 2024 Finance Law does not provide for any reform project and does not differ from the previous laws, given the gap observed between the political discourse and the content of the law. Ben Kaddour told TAP on the sidelines of the extraordinary administrative committee of the UGTT, that «The law is also devoid of any vision regarding compensation and how to reform it, or how to reform public enterprises, the education system or the health system amid the absence of budgets allocated to the reform process.» According to him, delaying the reform process would result a very high cost for any reform project, adding that the absence of a future vision remains the basis of any governance approach, citing the issue of climate change. The deputy general secretary of the Union expressed concerns that the union was neither convened in the drafting the finance law nor in the committees of the Assembly of P eople's Representatives, while Tunisian citizens' demands are purely social, mainly rising prices, shortage of basic products, the deterioration of transport and health services, and the problems facing the education system, which, he said are «at the heart of the concerns of unions and work organizations.» Source: EN - Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
