IOM, partners undertake displacement crisis simulation at Ghana-Burkina Faso border

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), has conducted a simulation exercise (SIMEX) at Paga on the Ghana-Burkina Faso border in the Upper East Region. It was done to test the readiness and effectiveness of humanitarian responders and community preparedness in managing and responding to cross-border emergencies. The exercise, carried out in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), was to also assess coordination among various humanitarian actors and responders, evaluate the rapid deployment of Emergency Operating Centres (EOCs) and crisis management tools, identify strengths and weaknesses in actors and agencies’ responses, and strengthen relationships between governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Journalists urged to be open-minded on gender reporting

Darkey, a Consultant for the Institute of Digital Marketing and Communication Ghana (IDMC Ghana), has urged journalists to be open-minded when reporting on gender issues, to shape public opinion and misconceptions about gender-related discussions. Freight Forwarders give 14-day automatum to shipping lines over high charges

The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), customs agents, and key industry stakeholders have issued a 14-day ultimatum to shipping lines operating in Ghana, to address grievances regarding their exorbitant and exploitative port charges. The group during a protest march, presented petitions containing their grievances to several entities, including the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Limited, Grimaldi Ghana Limited, and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).? GNFS marks Memorial Day with drills competition in Tamale

The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has held an operational drills competition to mark this year’s Memorial Day in Tamale. The event, which marked the fourth edition of the exercise in the region, focused on road traffic collision with musical chairs competition. Six Fire Stations from the region including the Regional Headquarters substation, Tamale Metro, Sagnarigu, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tolon, and Savelugu participated in the exercise. Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly commissions DRIP equipment

The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly in the Western Region has commissioned the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) at Nyanso, to address road network challenges within the municipality.
