Tunisia keen to tap into Japanese experience in space training

Minister of Communication Technologies Nizar Ben Neji paid a field visit on Thursday to Tokyo-based Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Opportunities of training and skill building were discussed along with ways to tap into Japan's advanced space programmes.

Scaled-up cooperation among members of academia, researchers and startups thorugh the exchange of data and joint projects was also discussed, the ministry said in a press release.

Means to boost cooperation in the launch of earth observation, space exploration and communications satellites also took centre stage. This in addition to using data provided by satellites to develop such sectors as agriculture, environment and disaster management.

The minister and a delegation from Tunisian embassy in Tokyo familiarised with JAXA activities and its projects in innovation and space exploration.

The visit fits within efforts to boost partnership with Japan and harness Japanese space expertise.
