The indictment division of the Kairouan Court of Appeal on Friday decided to release journalist Mohamed Yassine Romdhani, according to a National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) press release. A delegation from the SNJT attended the hearing in Kairouan in support of journalist Yassine Romdhani. Romdhani's defence team, led by lawyers Ridha Raddaoui and Majda Mastour, were also present at the hearing. The first investigating judge at the Kairouan Court of First Instance had issued a committal order against Yassine Romdhani under Decree No. 54. The case had been initiated by a complaint lodged by former Interior Minister Taoufik Charfeddine against Yassine Romdhani, regarding a post made by the latter on his personal Facebook page. After being interrogated by the judicial police in Kairouan, Yassine Romdhani had been placed in police custody on October 3.
