Thirty six candidates vying for seats in 18 local councils will contest the run-off local elections set for February 4, regional director of the electoral authority in Tunis 1 Ridha Guizani said. Contacted on Monday by TAP, he explained that the candidates, who will be vying for seats in 18 constituencies, had informed the electoral authority of their activities. Campaigning for the run-off election began on Sunday and will continue until February 2. Some 141,586 voters are participating in the run-off. They will choose their representatives in 39 centres and 107 polling stations. Eighteen officers will monitor the election campaigns of candidates in the constituencies of Tunis 1, which has 11 local councils (delegations), only three of which had been elected in the first round: Bab Bhar, Medina and Sijoumi, Guizani specified.
