Tunis: A partnership and cooperation agreement was inked on Tuesday between the Tunis Afrique Press (TAP) new agency and the Tunisian National Paralympic Committee (French: CNPT) on the occasion of Tunisia's participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, due August 28-September 8. The agreement was signed by TAP CEO Najeh Missaoui and CNPT President Mohamed Mzoughi at a ceremony held at TAP headquarters. On this occasion, Missaoui underlined TAP's commitment, as a public media outlet, to highlight the efforts and achievements of Tunisian paralympic athletes who are becoming increasingly distinguished at international sports level, expressing conviction that the Paris Games will be an opportunity for these champions to repeat their achievements and hoist the national flag high. "The agreement signed with the CNPT will help TAP provide exhaustive, multi-format and multi-media daily coverage of Tunisia's participation in the 2024 Games, through news stories in three languages (Arabic, French and English) a ccompanied by pictures and videos relating to all aspects of this participation (competitions, parallel activities, stay, travel, training and recovery of Tunisian para-athletes)," he added. "This agreement is also a renewed opportunity for TAP to open up to its external environment through sport, especially when it comes to such an important event as the Paralympic Games," he pointed out, wishing success to Tunisia's representatives in this major sporting event. Taking the floor, the CNPT President expressed appreciation to TAP for its efforts in supporting paralympic sports on various occasions, which prompted the CNPT to work towards consolidating this fruitful cooperation by concluding this agreement. An agreement which, according to him, "will ensure quality coverage of Tunisia's participation in the Paris 2024 Games and shed light on the potential successes of Tunisian para-athletes thanks to TAP's experience, competence, credibility and professionalism in covering this kind of international event." T he official Tunisian delegation taking part in the Paralympic Games is made up of 45 people, including some 25 athletes in four disciplines (athletics, boccia, rowing and triathlon). This refletcs the important work being done within the CNPT to broaden the map of Paralympic sports in Tunisia and target new disciplines capable of honouring the national flag and guaranteeing wider representation at the Paralympic Games. In this respect, he pointed out that the CNPT had taken the initiative, despite limited resources, to focus on boccia for profoundly disabled athletes, and was able to win the bet by winning the African Championship and securing an additional ticket to the Paralympic Games.
