Ghana Institute of Planning launches 53rd Conference

The Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP) has launched its 53rd Annual Conference and a General Meeting with a call for enhanced and sustainable city planning. Mr Percy Anaab Bukari, the President of the GIP who made the call, asked members to champion and intensify public education on the relevance of sustainable city planning in contemporary society. Speaking at a ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Bukari said the 2024 Conference of the GIP was scheduled for November 21 and 22, this year in Sunyani. It would be held on the theme 'The Nexus between Integrated Planning and Ghana's Decentralized Development: prospects, challenges and the way forward'. Mr Bukari said the GIP played an integral role in building a sustainable and better society as well as facilitating accelerated national development, and entreated members to work hard towards eliminating the practice of putting up buildings and structures haphazardly in the country. He said activities lined up for the conference included inductions of new members of the GIP and visits to tourist attraction sites among others. As part of the launch, the GIP re-elected Mr James Eta-Era as its Chairman for the Sunyani Zone, Mr Adjei Asare Baffour Senior, the Vice Chairman, Mrs Gifty Nyarko, Secretary, and Anthonia Ayamga, Organizer.
