Ada: Mr Thomas Raphael Vroom, headmaster of Ada Senior High Technical School (ASTECH), has urged students at the school to join the institution's Naval Cadet Corps, citing the impact of its trainings on character development and discipline. Mr Vroom said this at the 15th cadet handing and taking over ceremony of the school, where he applauded the cadets for their outstanding display of discipline, skill, and commitment to the values instilled by the corps. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Vroom highlighted the critical role the cadet programme plays in maintaining security, referencing a past local disturbance incident where cadet members intervened to ensure the safety and order of the school community. He expressed joy at the achievements of former cadet members, who are now serving in various sectors, including security agencies and the media, and noted that the values imbibed in them as cadets had positively impacted their lives. Master Dacosta Michael Kofi, an instructor in the school's cadet corps, appealed to stakeholders for support to acquire essential resources such as uniforms and regimental bands for the cadet corps, emphasizing that ASTECH's cadet corps remains the only one of its kind in the district. The ceremony featured a vibrant parade, gymnastic displays, and the cadets' spirited chant of 'Ahooo Ahoyaya,' capturing the unity and resilience of the corps. The event served as both a reunion for alumni and a testament to the lasting influence of the cadet programme on ASTECH's culture of excellence.
