Tunis: The Administrative Court has rejected all the challenges lodged in the context of the electoral dispute for the elections to the National Council of Regions and Districts, according to its spokesman, Faisal Bouguerra. In a statement to TAP, he explained that during the hearing sessions held on Tuesday, it was decided that two challenges, one relating to the provisional results and the other to the nominations, would be rejected, noting that the parties concerned had been informed of the decision. Bouguerra pointed out that on Monday the Court had received four challenges in connection with the electoral dispute for the elections to the National Council of Regions and Districts (three against the preliminary results of these elections and one against the first-instance ruling on the candidacies for these elections). He stressed in his statement on Tuesday that the rulings related to the results (3 challenges) have separate deadlines for appealing them to the Plenary of the Judiciary, as their results were announced on different dates, noting that next Friday is the deadline for appeals to the Plenary of the Judiciary. He added that the appellate ruling on the nominations was final and not subject to appeal. The deadline for accepting challenges expired on Monday for the results announced on March 28 and on Monday for the Sousse regional council, as the election process in this council and its announcement took place one day after the announcement of the provisional results, i.e. on 29 March. The spokesman for the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) said that the Commission had received three challenges to the preliminary results of the elections to the National Council of Regions and Districts, announced on March 28, from members of three regional councils: Sousse, Ben Arous and Bizerte. The National Council of Regions and Districts comprises 77 deputies elected by members of regional councils (24 councils) and members of district councils (5 regions).
