AMBASSADOR SIANGA ABILIO PRESENTS CREDENTIALS IN UGANDA

Luanda - The Angolan diplomat, Sianga Abílio, presented Friday to the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, the Credential Letters that accredit him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola in that East African country.

At the ceremony, which took place at the Presidential Palace, in Entebbe, Yoweri Museveni reiterated the need for Uganda to boost political and economic cooperation with Angola, two countries in the Great Lakes region with potential in natural resources.

In a statement, the Angolan embassy in Kenya said that President Yoweri Museveni remembered some Angolan nationalist figures who received military training with him in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), as well as being aware of the ethnic mosaic in Angola.

In terms of bilateral cooperation, in February 2014, Angola and Uganda signed an agreement in Kampala aimed at strengthening and improving political and economic cooperation between the two countries, with an emphasis on trade.

On the military side, in June 2019 a delegation from Uganda's Ministry of State for Defence and Homeland Veterans Affairs visited Angola to learn about the country's experience in the chapter on special protection and assistance to former combatants, war disabled and their families.
