Tunis: During a high-level ministerial meeting held, on Wednesday, in Brussels, Belgium, on the theme of "Towards African Health Sovereignty," Health Minister, Ali Mrabet, urged regional and international organizations to increase efforts so as to develop a joint strategy that would consolidate the «One Health» approach and promote sustainable development for all. The high-level ministerial meeting is organized by the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union in coordination with the European Commission, the African Union (AU) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The event was also attended by health ministers from African and European countries as well as representatives of relevant world institutions and organizations. The meeting aims to keep health at the top of the European and African policy agenda in addition to strengthening cooperation between countries. During a round table on the theme "One Health - The triple planetary crisis and its impact on health and well -being: how to strengthen the links?", co-chaired by Ali Mrabet and Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, Mrabet underlined Tunisia's permanent involvement in projects and programmes linked to the "One Health" approach as well as all health programmes. «The goal of the One Health approach is to preserve the health of individuals and the well-being of societies,» Mrabet said. The meeting made it possible to exchange ideas on the One Health approach so as to meet challenges and strengthening the links between human health and animal and environmental health.
