Tunis: A small cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani on Wednesday approved the establishment of an anonymous company with public shareholding called the "Aghlabid Medical City Company in Kairouan". The company will carry out various studies related to the Kairouan Medical City project, as well as infrastructure works for the project. The company will also promote and market the components of the medical city and develop the spaces that make it up, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the economic, social and scientific nature of this model project, both nationally and internationally. He highlighted its key role in the development of the surrounding areas and its competitiveness in various fields such as health services, related industries and medical tourism. During the meeting, a presentation was made on the components of this project and its location, as well as its main functions and the different specialities it will include, and the different objectives of the project. These include the possibility of creating around 42,000 jobs and new markets for the export of innovative health products. The project consists of a healthcare area, a university area, a healthcare industrial area, a tourism area, a cultural, leisure and sports area, a residential area, an area for public, administrative and security services, an area for the production of renewable energy and a centre for the collection and treatment of normal and hospital waste. The meeting was attended by Mustapha Ferjani, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, Minister of Finance, Feryel Ouerghi Sebai, Minister of Economy and Planning, Ali Mrabet, Minister of Health, and Sara Zafarani Zanzari, Minister of Public Works and Housing and Acting Minister of Transport.
