CAS imposes four-year suspension on Tunisian wrestler for failing to adhere to anti-doping protocol

Tunis: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) imposed a four-year suspension on Tunisian wrestler Amine Guennichi for failing to adhere to the anti-doping protocol, thereby missing the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, TAP learnt from informed sources on Wednesday. The CAS considered that Amine Guennichi had delayed providing a sample during an unannounced visit, which, according to it, is a violation of the anti-doping protocol, the same source added, describing the sanction as 'severe.' "The punishment imposed on the wrestler is severe, especially since the sample result was negative," the source further asserted, adding that the two verdicts rendered at first instance and on appeal had allowed the wrestler to participate in the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games held in Alexandria, Egypt, last March, where he secured his ticket to the Olympics. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed to the CAS, which overturned the initial two rulings and decided to suspend Amine Guennichi for four years. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
