"The penal reconciliation will take the form of a law to remedy its shortcomings," said President Kais Saied during a meeting with Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani, Justice Minister Leila Jaffel and Finance Minister Sihem Boughdiri Namsia at Carthage Palace on Friday. "There are shortcomings and gaps that can appear in legal texts, but their result is the presence of many who believe they are above the law in all areas, both inside and outside the administration," Saied pointed out. The President said that he wanted to achieve a reconciliation based on correct data documented ten years ago, "but they took it lightly". The head of state warned all those who think they are above the law that he will act forcefully to "hit them in the depths of their depths". "This warning is addressed to everyone, to those who want to foment sedition in the country, to those who want to starve the people and to the monopolistic criminals who think they can still disrupt the state," he added. He stressed the need for every off icial to take full responsibility and fulfil his duty and not to show any leniency to anyone. The President of the Republic spoke of the case of a person covered by the decree on penal reconciliation, but who offered a sum of no more than 30,000 dinars, whereas he had to return billions. The Head of State stressed that those who hide behind a foreign entity or invoke any other reason have not made an honest reconciliation and will therefore face justice. "We have no intention of harassing anyone, but everyone should realise that they are not above the law," he stressed. "The judiciary should assume its full responsibility and whoever sits on the bench should apply the law to everyone equally," Saied added. Source: EN - Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
