Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira: The District Information Centres Association (DICA) celebrated its first anniversary with a gathering that included members, stakeholders, and well-wishers. The event highlighted the association's achievements and its commitment to providing quality information, which was encapsulated in the theme: 'Providing quality information, the role of stakeholders.' According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Joseph Asante, Chairperson of DICA, expressed that the association has successfully connected about 53 information centres within the district, making it highly robust. These centres play a crucial role in serving marginalized communities by delivering accurate and timely information on government services, policies, and programs. Additionally, they contribute to civic awareness, education, and facilitate access to social services, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Mr Asante encouraged members to continue innovating, sharing best practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the dissemination of accurate information. He also highlighted several challenges faced by the members, including limited resources, infrastructure constraints, information overload, data quality and accuracy, accessibility barriers, and issues related to sustainability and funding. Mrs Alberta Eshun, District Director of Information at the Information Services Department in Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, praised Mr Asante for his efforts in unifying the information centres. She emphasized the importance of making information readily available to all, regardless of location, and the need for verifying information to maintain credibility and trust. Mrs Eshun also advised the members to tailor information to local needs and invest in capacity-building to stay updated with current trends.
