The Djebel Zaghdouda fire in the El Oueslatia delegation in the governorate of Kairouan, which broke out on Tuesday, has ravaged 100 hectares of the Khanguet El Ouechtatia forests. 80% of the fire had been extinguished by Tuesday afternoon, said local civil protection director Colonel Hamdi Loussif, adding that the causes of the fire are still unknown. He added that the flames, fanned by the wind and located in a difficult-to-access area, had not yet been put out. Five fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze. A bomb dating back to the 2nd World War exploded in the fire.
