Social Affairs Minister Malek Ezzahi and his counterparts from 22 Arab countries, taking part in the high-level forum on the "Second Arab Decade of Disabled Persons 2023-2032", visited on Monday the National Institute for Child Protection (INPE) in Manouba. On this occasion, the social affairs ministers visited INPE's various facilities, which include 6 living units with a capacity of 140 children, and took cognisance of the accommodation conditions for children without family support, as well as the health and social services provided to them. The social affairs ministers further learnt about the health and educational care of children with disabilities as it is one of the key themes of the Second Arab Decade of Disabled Persons 2023-2032, organised by the Social Affairs Ministry in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The INPE takes every year a large number of people with disabilities and provides them with the necessary assistance through a team of speech therapists, psychologists and physiotherapists. Children with motor disabilities, multiple disabilities and chronic illnesses are integrated into the Essnad Socio-Educational Centre in Sidi Thabet. The ministers further attended a craft exhibition organised by the Association of INPE's Friends. The ministers also paid a visit to the Essnad Socio-Educational Centre and the International Centre for Promotion of Disabled in Gammarth, which specialises in setting up educational programmes for people with disabilities who are unable to enter the school system, said Head of the General Social Development Unit Ibrahim Ben Idriss.
