A TND 20-million financing line will be created by the government to support economic empowerment projects for vulnerable and low-income categories as part of the 2024 draft finance law currently being studied by committees at the Assembly of People's Representatives.
According to article 14 of the finance bill, these funds will be used to grant interest-free loans of up to 10,000 dinars for economic projects between January 1 and December 31, 2024, to be repaid over a period of six months with a one-year grace period.
The Tunisian Solidarity Bank (French: BTS) will be responsible for managing this line of credit, following the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Employment setting out the conditions and procedures for its management.
The aim of this initiative, which forms part of the efforts to consolidate the social role of the State and to supply the market with basic products, is to consolidate the successful results achieved by the financing line in the 2023 Finance Act, through a budget of TND 10 million dedicated to granting interest-free loans to vulnerable and low-income groups.
